Softly we shall go.

Softly we shall go.

Softly we shall go, you and me.

We had danced in many dangerous storms

and we wanted more.

Baby sweet, honey, my love.

We need more shoeless days,

we need to hear the song of the sea.

We need the morning sun on our face and

more easy days.

Softly we go,

trying to find people who can smile.

We are trying to find a colorless world

where every child had shelter, food and they are safe.

Softly we go, hand in hand.

Praying to the Goddess of the Pacific Ocean.

Please allow me to know one day of peace with you.

  1. The way you move from personal tenderness—”baby sweet, honey, my love”—to the prayer for every child to have shelter and safety is exactly right. It says: we have loved fiercely enough that we want that love to ripple outward, to reach the smallest and most vulnerable. And asking the Goddess for just one day of peace together isn’t small. After dancing in dangerous storms, one day of gentleness, shoeless and at ease by the sea—that’s not asking for everything. That’s asking for enough.
